Lord, When?: A Biblical Perspective of the Second Coming

looks at the Second Coming from a scriptural point of view while examining the various questions, objections, and viewpoints of the Tribulation period and the Rapture of the Church. As the world draws closer to the Second Coming of our Lord, it is more important than ever for all Christians to follow what the Bible says about this crucial doctrine. Our greatest hope lies not in theories of inference but in undeniable facts left by our Lord in His holy word about The Seventh Trumpet, The Great Apostasy, The Restrainer, The Antichrist, The Seventy Weeks of Daniel, and The 144,000 Servants.

From Death to Life: An Overview of the Foundational Doctrines of the Christian Faith

is John J Cobb’s latest work that explores some of the core doctrines of the Christian faith, such as The Doctrine of God, Man’s Total Depravity, Sin, Justification, Election, and Predestination.

Excerpts:

1. “Except for predestination and its associated doctrines of election, foreknowledge, calling, and God’s decrees, there is no greater subject that divides the Body of Christ as does the Rapture. Does it take place before, at the midway point, or at the end of the Tribulation period? These questions are at the forefront of this important doctrine of the Christian faith.”

2. “Apart from the regenerative experience, the first resurrection (and the blessings associated with it) is undoubtedly the greatest thing that can ever happen to a person. As such, there must be a reasonable amount of surety about certain facts. For example, if the Tribulation does precede the Rapture, what impact will it have on one’s faith? What will be the response once the stark realization come that either I’ve been left behind or the Rapture does occur after the Tribulation. This will undoubtedly have an effect on one’s faith and, subsequently, one’s hope. These are serious questions that need to be at least considered and pondered by every believer.”

3.” There is no other place in Scripture that offers any stronger evidence that the Lord’s return occurs after the tribulation period than does Revelation eleven. While it’s not possible to know the exact day, it is possible to determine the time frame. This is based on Scripture interpreting Scripture. When this principle is applied, no other conclusion can be drawn, other than the last trump spoken of in First Corinthians and First Thessalonians is the same one spoken of in the eleventh chapter of Revelation.”
